NDA Selection Procedure 2016: The NDA Selection Procedure 2016 will comprise of two stages – Written Examination and Interview. The Written Examination of NDA 2016 will be held on September 18, 2016. UPSC will prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion. Such candidates will appear before a Services Selection Board for Intelligence and Personality Test. SSB interview for the candidates qualified in the written examination will be held during the months of January 2017 to April 2017. The qualified candidates will then be placed in a single combined list on the basis of the total marks secured by the candidates in the written examination and SSB Tests. As per the NDA Selection Procedure, the final allocation for admission to the Army, Navy, Air Force of the National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be made depending on the number of vacancies, eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference of the candidates.
NDA 2 Answer Key 2016 –Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the Answer Key of NDA 2 written examination in October 2016. The Written Examination of NDA was conducted on September 18, 2016. The NDA 2 Answer Key 2016 of Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (General Ability Test) of all sets will be made available here. The Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview is the final round of the NDA & NA examination. Candidates on the basis of merit will be given admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wing of National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy Courses.
The candidature of the candidates who have qualified for SSB test is provisional. The candidates will have to register themselves online within two weeks of announcement of written result. The successful candidates will then be allotted Selection Centres and dates of SSB interview which shall be communicated on the registered e-mail ID of the candidates. The candidates will have to submit their original certificates of Age and Educational Qualification during the SSB interview.

Salient Features of the NDA 2 2016 Exam
- National Defense Academy, khadagwasla and Naval Academy are the two pioneering academies which train the candidates for the direct officer rank entry into the prestigious defence sectors of the country viz Army, Air force and Navy.
- Every year, UPSC, on the behalf of these two academies conducts the written examination two times in an academic year.
- The examinations are conducted in the months of April and September.
- The examination conducted in the month of April is called the NDA & NA (1) and the examination conducted in September is termed the NDA & NA (2).
- As per the NDA 2 notification, around 410 vacancies has been announced.
- The exam is held offline
- The candidates who are shortlisted through the process of Written Examination and Interview will be given appointment to the above-mentioned courses as per the vacancies available.
- The candidates joining the Indian Naval Academy will have to undergo 4 years B. Tech course. After that would be given an opportunity to join executive and technical branches of the Navy subjected to availability of vacancies.

NDA 2 Cutoff 2016
NDA 2 Cutoff is the minimum score required to qualify the exam. The cutoff score is decided by the examination body considering certain factors such as difficulty level of exam, the number of candidates appeared in the exam and so on.
NDA 2 Admit Card 2016
The NDA 2 Admit Card 2016 for the SSB tests will be made available by the Service Selection Board. Candidates appearing for the NDA 2 2016 SSB Tests can download the Admit Card. Only those who will register themselves successfully will be provided with the date, time and centres for SSB tests.NDA 2 Eligibility Criteria 2016
The candidates wishing to fill the Online UPSC NDA 2016 Application form must acquaint themselves with the eligibility criteria which prevail for the examination. The following are the eligibility criterions required to appear in the aforesaid examination:
- Nationality : the candidates should necessarily be an Indian and must have a domicile certificate to support the same. However, NDA also allows foreign nationals but the clarification for that can be found from the respective embassies of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Myanmar.
- Age : the candidates applying for the NDA 2016 exam must be aged between 17 to 20 years of age as on 02nd January, 1998 and not later than 1st January, 2001 are eligible.
- Educational Qualification:
- The candidates must have studied physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the higher secondary examination.
- The candidates must be class 12th pass.
- There is no bar on the minimum percentage qualification.
Note: Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.
NDA 2 Application Form 2016
The NDA 2 2016 Application form is over now. The Online Application Form was open from June 18 to July 15, 2016. Thousands of application have applied for NDA 2 2016 exam. The Application Form was available in two parts, Part I-Registration and Part-II Registration. Completing both the parts were mandatory for the candidates. NDA 2 Selection Procedure 2016

NDA 2 Exam Pattern 2016
The Examination for the NDA is conducted in two sessions namely the Mathematics and the General Ability sections. The highlights of these two sections are as follows:
- There are 120 questions carrying 300 marks in the Mathematics section and 150 questions carrying 600 marks in the general ability section.
- The total marks will be 900.
- The time allotted for the first section would be 150 minutes and for the section, the time allotted would also be 150 minutes.
- There is the provision of negative marking for every negative response.

The candidates will have to score 30 % marks in mathematics to clear the exam. Therefore, 30 % of the total marks allotted to this section is 300 which stands to 90 marks. The candidates will have to secure 90 marks in this section out of 300.
- NDA 2 Cutoff for General Ability Test
The cutoff for General Ability Test is 180 marks. The calculation of this is 30 % of 600 marks stand to 180 marks. The candidates will have to score 180 marks in this section to qualify the test.

The candidates should also note that there is a sectional cutoff of at least 35% marks for being able to be qualified for the final cutoff marks which means a candidate needs to score a minimum of 105 marks in mathematics section and around 210 marks in the General ability section to be able to be qualified for the overall cutoff score.

NDA Selection Procedure-Stages involved
UPSC seeks to select the candidates for total 410 vacancies in National Defence Academy and Naval Academy courses under the following stages.
- Written Examination (900 marks)
- SSB Interview (Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence or Personality Test) (900 marks)
Different stages of NDA Selection Procedure in a detailed way
Written Examination:
- This is the first stage for the selection of candidates under NDA & NA II 2016.
- Candidates aspiring to serve the nation will have to appear for the written examination. The written examination will be of 900 marks comprising of Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT).
- The duration of the test will be 2.5 hrs each.
- The paper in all the subject will comprise of objective type questions.
- The exam will be held offline. The Commission have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination.
- The candidates qualifying the written examination will be called for Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence or Personality test.
SSB Interview (Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test):
- The two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards.
- All the candidates will be put to stage one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards.
- Only those candidates who qualify at stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests.
- Those candidates who qualify stage II will be required to submit the Original Certificates along with one photocopy each of : (i) Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth, (ii) Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.
- To be acceptable, candidates for the Army/Navy/Naval Academy and Air Force should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in (i) Written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion and (ii) Officer Potentiality Test as fixed by the Services Selection Board at their discretion.
- Over and above candidates for the Air Force, and all the SSB qualified candidates as per their willingness, eligibility and preference for Air Force, should separately qualify the PABT.
NDA Selection Procedure 2016 – Exclusive Details
- The NDA Selection Procedure begins with the candidates appearing for the written examination.
- The next step is the Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence and Personality Test conducted for the shortlisted candidate by the Service Selection Board (SSB)
- The candidates will have to report to selection centers and Air Force candidates will have to report to Air Force Selection centers on the first day where they will be put to Stage One of Test
- Stage 1 is an elimination round and the candidates qualifying the Stage 1 round will appear for stage 2 round of selection procedure of NDA & NA 2016
- The candidates qualifying the stage 2 will have to submit the original documents and certificated along with a single photocopy of each
- For the final qualification, the candidate applied for Army/ Navy and Naval Academy should score minimum qualifying marks in written exam, officers potentiality test, and the candidates applied for Air Force must score minimum qualifying marks in written examination, officers potentiality test, and pilot aptitude test
- The final merit list will be disclosed based on the total marks scored by the candidates in written examination, and service selection board (SSB) Test in three separate list

- The three merit list will be formed and disclosed comprising the name of the candidates who have qualified for various services of NDA 2016.
- The selection Procedure of NDA & NA 2016 will be based on the candidate’s medical fitness and suitability in all other aspects.
- Subject to these conditions the qualified candidates will then be placed in a single combined list on the basis of total marks secured by them in the Written Examination and the Services Selection Board Tests.
- The final allocation/selection for admission to the Army, Navy, Air Force of the National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be made up to the number of vacancies available subject to eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference of the candidates.
- The candidates who are eligible to be admitted to multiple Services/Courses will be considered for allocation/selection with reference to their order or preferences and in the event of their final allocation/ selection to one Service/Course, they will not be considered for admission to other remaining Services/Courses.

How to calculate marks from the NDA 2 Answer Key 2016?
- NDA 2 exam will comprise of two papers – Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper-II (General Ability Test)
- The Paper-I (Mathematics) will carry 300 marks and Paper-II (General Ability Test) will carry 600 marks.
- The Mathematics section will comprise of 150 Multiple Choice Questions.
- Each question in the Mathematics section will carry 2 marks.
- Similarly, the Paper-II will comprise of 150 multiple choice questions.
- Each question in Paper-II will carry 2 marks.
Formula for calculating marks
Candidates after checking the Answer key can calculate their marks using the following technique.
- Calculation of marks in Paper-1
- Paper 1 (Mathematics): Number of each correct response x 2 marks
- Calculation of marks in Paper-2
- Paper 2 (General Ability Test): Number of each correct response x 4 mark.
Total score out of 900 marks = (Aggregate Marks obtained in Paper 1 +Paper 2) – 0.33 for each incorrect response.
