Must know details about NDA before applying for the Entrance Examination

  1. AGE: 17.5 Years to 19.5 years as of the date of the commencement of the NDA Course in Jan / July
  2. This (NDA) Exam is conducted twice a year for three years Tri services Officers entry preparatory course
  3. Those who opt for the Air force and Navy must have studied Phy, Chem and Maths in Class XII
  4. For those opt for Army, commerce group is also acceptable in XII
  5. The entrance exam has two papers- Maths (11th and 12th class CBSE Syllabus)for 300 marks -120 Q in 150 mins (Negative Marking) Min pass mark not specified by should be at least 40 %
  6. Paper-II is General Ability Test consists of ENGLISH, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Civics, Curren Affairs- 600 marks- 120 q 150 mins, each subject the candidate must score at least 40 %
  7. The training is offered free of cost by Defence Ministry
  8. National Defence Academy is Located at Khakvasla- 26 km away from Pune
  9. Procedure- For January Course apply by May of the previous year NDA (UPSC) Exam will be conducted in the Month of April- Result in Aug - Interview in Sep/Oct- Admission in Jan
  10. Procedure- For June Course apply by October of the previous year NDA (UPSC) Exam will be conducted in the Result in Nov - Interview in Jan- April- Admission in June
  11. Approximately 5- 6 lakh candidates take this exam for the vacancy of Air forces 75, Navy-50 Army 275 Approximate seats per term
  12. For Air Force Entry- Written Test- (in +2 PCM is must) + SSB Interview + Pilot Aptitude Test- given once in lifetime
  13. Approximately about 10000 will be shortlisted for Services Selection Board Interview (for Coaching)Defence Academy 78249 20076- 94437 20076
  14. SSB-Services Selection Board conducted in two parts Part I Screening,(1 day). If you fail you will be sent back and have to repeat the written test again for the next entry after 6 months
  15. Those who qualify will be tested in Part II for 4 more days - Normally pass percentage is about 10-15% of the tested candidates

  18. On Qualifying SSB- Medical by Army/Air force Medical board- 5 days minimum
  19. First, get yourself medically checked up for Eye, General body- teeth- Knock Knee, flat foot, Heart, longs, etc. take all vaccination and TT injection before going for SSB Interview
  20. Expenses will be borne by the Government for the first time for attending SSB Interview anywhere in the country

  23. First, get yourself medically checked up
  24. While at school take part in as many activities as you can in order to develop your leadership qualities
  25. Second Go through the Syllabus and Take on an online mock test of NDA both the papers and know where you stand?
  26. Only if you are serious to get into defence try this exam otherwise please do not waste your time- effort and money
  27. You are also advised to take JEE Exam and qualify
  28. There is no need to attend any Coaching provided you have made a study plan and start while you are in class XI
  29. Start your preparation as early as possible say class X

  31. Joining Sainik School or Military School in class VI or IX is added advantage for facing NDA Exam
  32. Joining RIMC while in class VIII is another better Option
  33. Studying in CBSE is added advantage

  36. Buy a good NDA guide, I would recommend Pearson NDA Guide it is best along with competition success review monthly magazine
  37. Be through with at least the last 10 years solved papers
  38. Set aside at least 2 hours a day for 300 days for preparing for NDA
  39. Give your first attempt while still in Class XI (September Exam)
  40. Give your Well prepared attempt while in class XII (September NDA II Exam)
  41. Taking the NDA exam after having completed XII is wasting at least one year of college studies
  42. Give an attempt for 10 +2 Tech entry for Army as well as Navy for this you should have scored well in PCM and qualify for JEE
  43. In my opinion, it is a better entry, provided you want to become a technical officer, however, you are allowed to choose any arms and services of your choice
  44. If you want to become an air force pilot, then NDA is the best choice
