Ways to Become an officer after joining the Air Force / Navy / Army as an Airman/Sailor/ Soldier 


In order to encourage suitable and eligible candidates among Sailors, airmen and Soldiers/ Naviks/ Yantriks to become officers in the defence forces, defence services offer special concession as well as opportunity.

Army Cadet College:  This is like NDA, where a cadet gets trained for 3 years in ACC Wing of IMA and then joins the IMA in second term. On completion of One year training at IMA he gets commissioned as an officer in the ARMY

Age: upto 27 years
Edn: 10 +2 Pass
Procedure: ACC Written exam (Maths, English, Reasoning ability, General Awareness) 
100 marks each.

On passing the ACC written exam, he will be asked to appear for Services Selection Board Interview

On getting recommended at SSB, he will under go medical and then wait for Merit list.

Usually  the intake of one course is 100 cadets.
An other rank with min 2 years of service can apply for this Entry.


If the Other rank is otherwise eligible he is permitted to face the UPSC exam and try FOR NDA
Or
10 +2 Tech Entry

If the Other rank is a graduate he is permitted to apply for CDSE/ AFCAT/ Navy Direct Entry/ Coast Guard Direct Entry

For those who have crossed this age , Special branch commission is offered by all the four services.

The ACC exam is held Twice a year, all most like NDA
The best part of this is he will be allowed to draw pay and allowances as per his rank held at the time of joining ACC.

In case of unfortunate event of the cadet not qualifying in ACC,
he will be given a chance to repeat that term for 1or 2 terms.

In case he is still not able to do so, he will be given an option to revert back to the services, in case he so desires.
