1. GSLV-Mark II The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch weather satellite “INSAT-3DR with its Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark II in August 2016 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The satellite is the replacement for Insat-3D launched in 2013 on atop of Ariane 5 ECA.

2. July 29 The International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, is observed every year on July 29 to raise worldwide attention to the reservation of tigers.

3. United States India has recently signed $1 billion deal with US aerospace major Boeing for purchasing 4 additional P-8I (Poseidon Eight India ) long-range maritime patrol aircraft. With this, the naval surveillance capabilities of Indian Navy will increase. The P-8I is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad area, maritime and littoral operations.

4. Pakistan The 2016 SAARC Home Ministers’ conference will be held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The focus of the conference will be on strengthening networking among police authorities of SAARC member-countries and increasing information-sharing among law enforcement agencies. From India, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the conference.

8. T V S N Prasad committee The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has constituted 7-member expert committee to explore the other possible alternatives to pellet guns as non-lethal weapons. The committee will be chaired by T V S N Prasad and will submit its report within 2 months.

9. Muttiah Muralidaran Muttiah Muralidaran, Sri Lankan spin legend, will become the first Sri Lankan player to be inducted into the into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame for year 2016, along with the late England fast bowler George Lohmann, the late Australia opener Arthur Morris and former Australia Women captain Karen Rolton.


10. Amazon The e-commerce firm Amazon has launched Amazon Prime premium service in India. The service will be available to customers in 100 Indian cities. With this, Indian customers in over 100 cities can enjoy unlimited free one-day and two-day delivery on lakhs of eligible products. Currently, Amazon Prime is available for a free 60-day trial after which the annual subscription will be available at a special introductory price of Rs 499.
