The Indian Navy, one of the finest forces on the face of the earth. They say white is the colour of peace but for the navy it is a colour of power and dominance, the white uniform is respect. The naval uniform stands out in the crowd, the men and women take a lot of pride wearing the whites. The stripes are in gold which glitters along with the whites of the navy. This uniform is more than what meets the eye of a common man.

Behold ladies and gentlemen while we present you the uniforms that you have to sweat, bleed and prove you’re worth to earn, the uniforms of the Indian Navy!

DRESS NO 1 & NO. 3

• Peak cap/white turban, White full sleeved shirt, Black tie, Black jacket, Stripes on sleeves (Officers and MCPO/ CPO)
• Turn back on lapels (Midshipmen), White twisted cord on lapels (Cadets)
• Arm badges (POs and below), Medals (Dress No 1), Ribbons (Dress No 3), Name tally, Chest badges
• Black winter trousers, Black socks, Black shoes

NOTE:

1. The sword shall be worn with Dress No 1 compulsorily by Commanders and above and optionally by other officers unless otherwise ordered.
2. Black boots and gaiters/anklets to be worn when ordered.

DRESS NO 2 & NO 4

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban
• White tunic with shoulder straps for Officers and MCPO/ CPO
• White tunic with arm badges for POs and below
• Gilt Buttons size 1, Medals Dress No 2, Ribbon Dress No 4, Name tally, Chest badges
• White trousers, White socks, White shoes

NOTES

1. The sword shall be worn with Dress No 2 compulsorily by Commanders and above and optionally by other officers unless otherwise ordered.
2. Leading Seaman and below to wear Black boots. Others to wear Black boots/ Black shoes when ordered.

DRESS NO 4 alpha & NO 7

No4A : Captains and above

• Peak cap/white turban, White bush jacket, Shoulder Straps, Ribbons.
• Name tally, Chest badges
• White trousers, White socks, White shoes

No7 : Officers and sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White full sleeved shirt , Black tie black Jersey
• Slip-on Shoulder badges for Officers and MCPO/ CPO
• Arm badges of ranks for POs and below
• Name tally, Black Winter Trouser, Black Socks, Black Shoes

DRESS NO.5

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White full sleeved shirt, Black bow tie, Black mess jacket, Stripes on sleeves
• Turn back on lapels (Midshipmen), Guilt Button size 2, Miniature Medals, Name tally, Chest badges, Black Kamarband
• Black winter trousers, Black socks, Black shoes

NOTES

1. Black silk saree, shawl scarf and black ladies coat may be worn in lieu of black mess jacket, black winter trouser, black mess jacket, black Kamar band and black bow tie by women officers on medical grounds.

DRESS NO. 6

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White full sleeved shirt, Black bow tie White mess jacket, Shoulder Stripes
• Guilt Button size 2, Miniature Medals, Name tally, Chest badges
• Black summer trousers, Black Kamarband, Black socks, Black shoes

NOTES

1. Black summer saree and shawl scarf may be worn in lieu of white mess jacket, black summer trousers, black kamarband and black bow tie by women officers on medical grounds.Shoulder straps should be worn on shirt when saree is worn

DRESS NO .6b

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White half sleeve shirt, Shoulder Straps, Ribbons
• Name tally, Chest badges
• Black Summer trousers, Black Kamarband, Black socks, Black shoes

NOTES

1. Black summer saree in place of black trousers and kamarband, may be worn by women officers on medical grounds.
2. No ribbons to be worn with sarees.

Dress No. 8

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White half sleeved shirt, Shoulder Straps for Officers and MCPO/ CPO
• Arm badges of ranks for POs and below Ribbons, Name tally
• White shorts, White stockings, White shoes

NOTES

1. Women officers are to wear a white skirt in place of white shorts.
2. Beret Black turban may be worn in place of peak cap/ white turban.
3. Leading Seaman and below to wear Black shoes and black stockings. Others to wear Black boots/ Black shoes when ordered.
4. Gym shoes or sandals may be worn ,when permitted, at sea.

DRESS NO.8a

Officers and Sailors

• Peak cap/white turban, White half sleeved shirt, Shoulder Straps for Officers and MCPO/ CPO
• Arm badges of ranks for POs and below
• Ribbons, Name tally, Chest badges
• White trousers, White Belt with Buckle, White socks, White shoes

NOTES

1. Beret Black turban may be worn in place of peak cap/ white turban.
2. Leading Seaman and below to wear Black shoes. Others to wear Black boots/ Black shoes when ordered.
3. In cold weather when permitted black jacket may be worn over the shirt, outdoors.
4. White saree in place of white trousers may be worn by women officers on medical grounds.

• Black socks, Black non-slip shoes

• Peak cap/white turban, Light blue shirt, Slip on shoulder badges for Officers and MCPO/ CPO
• Arm badges of ranks for POs and below
• Name tab, Blood group tab
• Navy blue trousers, Black socks, Black non-slip shoes

NOTES

1. Beret Black turban may be worn in place of peak cap/ white turban.
2. Web belt anklet and boots to be worn when ordered.
