UPSC CSE Personality Test – usually a 30-minute exercise

Though no time-period is fixed, on average, the interview of a candidate will be over in a span of 30 minutes.
One board usually interviews 12 candidateoard usually consists of 5 members including the board chairman.
The board chairman will be one of the members of the UPSC. per day – 6 candidates in the morning slot and 6 candidates in the evening slot.

  • UPSC- CDSE- NDA- Interview

  • Army-Navy- IAF- Coast Guard Interview
  • One to one interview by the rank of Brigadier / Colonel
    Usually 45 mins to 1 hour

  • Staff Selection- interview ( Asst commandant or euqivalent level)
  • Other Government Job Interview
  • Duration: 30 to 45 mins
    Board consists of Commandant rank officer and two other officers

  • School Entrance Interview
  • Duration- 10 to 15 mins
    Board consists of a Senior officer Principal/ Vice Principal
    Members rom Edn board

    Common Procedure

  • The Candidates are asked to collect to a common place at a specified date
  • Personal particulars/ Resume is collected in advance and the board members go through it before calling the candidate for inteview
  • The Board useually Recommends the candidate/s for further training
  • - they only Recommend
  • It is normally followed by Medical Examination
  • Merit List
  • Police Verification for government job is usally the norm followed.

  • The object of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career/ Institute
  • The test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate.
  • In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his/her intellectual qualities but also social traits and his/her interest in current affairs.

    The interview test is not intended to be a test either of the specialised or general knowledge of the candidates which has been already tested through their written papers.
