How to Prepare for a competitive exam?
Preparing
for a competitive exam can be a game changer in life. It can open a brand new
door in your life to a bright and rewarding career.
Here we have compiled a list of 8 Activities which when done
during the preparation cause problems and can devoid you from the best results.
1.
Relying completely on a friend
Candidates
need to realize that since they are giving the exam, they are solely
responsible for the preparations as well. Complete reliance on external people
like teachers, tutors, mentors, friends, etc. isn’t going to help them a lot in
the long run. The first thrust needs to come from within. Help should be
pursued only when it’s needed. So make sure you don’t rely too much on your
friends or peers.
2.
Planning, Procrastinating but NOT implementing
Most
students think and take hours planning and making timetable like:
“I will do this and this
tomorrow and complete all of these sums within this and this time.”
Planning
is a very essential thing but it turns futile if it is not put into action.
Most students plan a lot, but ultimately when the situation calls for the most,
they fail to turn their plans into action
“ I planned to
study at 7 is now 7:10 alas it’s too late now let begin at 8:00.”
And
the cycle repeats itself. So don’t just plan and procrastinate, try your best
to implement it into action to benefit in the long run.
3.
Collecting hordes of study material
Collecting
hordes and hordes of textbooks and other study materials may not do the job
well
4. Not studying smart
Preparation
of an exam is a time bound game and one who doesn't plan is bound to lose. One
needs to have an action plan and must study only that is in the syllabus. Many
of the aspirants tend to make the mistake of focusing too much on the subject
they like at the expense of others.
5.
Wasting time while “studying”
Taking
time off is important but too much rest is bad. One gets discontinued in the
study also focus is lost in the meantime. Avoid taking long breaks instead of
rejuvenating it does the exact opposite.
.
“Do not waste time or else
time will waste you”
6.
Ignoring self-study
“Self-study,
in a sense of learning by yourself without anybody teaching you anything, has
an enormous value.”
-Robert Kraft
Whatever
you study in coachings, tuition, schools etc. is all worthless if not studied
once by yourself. It is impossible to crack any exam without self-study. Hence
one must give priority to self-study over everything and not miss out on this.
7.
Not taking care of health
“Health is the greatest of
all human blessings.” -Hippocrates
“Those who think they have
no time for healthy activities sooner or later have to find time for illness.”
“ Having anxiety and depression is
like being scared and tired at the same time. It’s the fear of failure but no
urge to be productive, It’s wanting friends but hating socializing. This
dilemma is nerve-wracking and must be dealt with courage “.
This
is also one of the repercussions of poor health. When a person is not
physically and mentally fit he/she tends to be demoralized over petty issues.
