How To Qualify in Sainik School/
Rashtriya Military School Entrance examination?
About
Sainik and Military Schools.
As on date
there are 26 Sainik Schools and 5 Military Schools in India.
The entrance Exam for Sainik Schools except Sainik School
Nagrota ( J &K) is conducted in the first week of Jan .
While Military schools conduct written entrance exam during
the month of Dec .

Class IX.

below 15years and for class VI it would be less than 12 years.
While RMS age for class IX is Less than 14 years as on 01

c) Science and
Social Studies
d) Mental
Ability Tests.
The written test is followed by and Interview and medical (
for successful Candidates only)
Fee collected by Sainik School per year is Around Rs.1.lakh
While RMS it would be max Rs.30 k per year.
( Pl ref to school prospectus for exact details)
Why should one study in Sainik / RMS:
·
The trg is under the guidance of Serving Defence
Officers
·
They prepare students to take up NDA examination after
+2 .
·
About 20 % of the boys do gain admission in NDA.
·
Recently govt has announced that Girl candidates would
also be eligible to take on entrance exam.
·
NDA is also preparing to admit girl candidates. ( Exact
date not yet announced)
Though the passing marks are kept low is 40 % in aggregate ,
one must score well about 75% to see his/ her name in the final merit list.
When should one start preparing for the written Test?
In my opinion it is better to start the preparation of the
perspective candidate while they are still in class IV.
Mathematics is a scoring subject, hence the concentration has
to be on this subject at least 50 % of the available time has to be spent on
polishing the skill in concept of Maths and working out various sums.
To go into detail, let us see the method I use to teach
children.
A dog runs at a speed of 2 m/ sec. calculates its speed in
km/hr.
Step 1: What are the data’s given? A dog runs at 2 m/ second.
Step 2. To find the speed in km/hr.
Step 3.
Formula to be used Speed x Time = Total Distance travelled.
Distance / Time = Speed
What do we know ? 1 hr has 3600
seconds
1kilometer= 1000 meters
|
Step 4. Working: As per data given 2 m in 1 seconds hence
The Dog will
cover _____________m in 3600 seconds
Multiply 2 m
into 3600 = 7200 m distance would have been covered by the dog in one hour
Now to
convert this into km Divide 7200 /
1000 = 7.2 km
Step 5:
Answer : Hence the answer would be 7.2
km/hr
|
The student should know how to convert m into
km and seconds in min/ hour. And formula to find distance, speed
and time when any of the two measurements are given
For Polishing
English Language I would Recommend regular reading of story books and news
paper.
Reading newspaper
increases knowledge and Vocabulary.
Science and
Social Studies one should read his own
School books and –practice online tests. Plenty of material is available over
the internet.
Mental
ability, this can be practiced and perfected within 15 days.
First Step
before a parent even thinks of getting his son/ daughter admitted in such
schools. Please get the child checked up for
Flat Foot,
Knock Knees, Colour blindness and other defects which can be detected by a
qualified medical practioner.
During
Class V, one must to taken to someone who can
coach the child for 2 hours a day.
Carry out
plenty of Mock test
And purchase
good study it covering all chapters and previous years solved papers
Kindly take
the child for a short trip and let him have a look at the facilities available
at the school of your choice.
