TARGET SSB- FSB- GROUP TESTS- WHAT ARE THEY - TIPS
- This test is one of the most crucial test in SSB / FSB.
- In this test the candidates performance is seen
- in the larger group
- smaller group
- as an individual
- once again in a larger group.
GTO has three stages of assessing the candidate:
Pre- confirmatory stage - also called Exploration stage
Confirmatory
Re- final confirmatory Stage.
Stage One-- GD, GPE, PGT and GOP
Stage Two-- HGT, Lecturette, individual Obstacle and CT
Stage Three-- Final Group Task
Inside information: Read and understand the Fanda of GTO
During the Group discussion stage; The candidates do not know each other well. This gives a chance for them to understand one another and judge for themselves as to their knowldge and form some opinion.
Here there is bound to be a fishmarket type discussion and later if becomes the play ground for the better candidates.
Group Planning Test:
Here the candidate tries to show his planning, organising and understanding of the given problem.
This needs knowledge, reasoning and logical approach to solving the problem.
Being practical keeping the time and distance in view, grouping, use of available resources and time
Prioritising the work and multitasking, with out losing the goal/ aim in-view.
( During this stage, the candidates try and establish their superiority over others and try to influence the group to agree to their view points.)
Some candidates try to be over smart and tell the GTO in the end that they do not agree to the group plan and thus spoil their chances of success.
Progressive Group Tasks:
The real test of the group and the individuals ability to work as a team comes out in these tests.
The task of the GTO in this is to find out the
Performer/ follower and observers in the group.
A person who listens to others, gives positive and workable idea and who takes initiative and calculated risk and forms a fulcrum of the group shines.
Candidates are advised to be co-operative and work as a team.
United you gain- divided you FAIL.
Individual obstacle is not of that much importance as this is a Trainable factor and a person with some stamina and understanding one's physical capability will do well
Command task;
This is task where he is judged as a commander
his way of briefing and explaining the task and ideas to cross the obstacle by using the available help material makes him a winner or a loser.
The tougher the task better is the chance of selection.
