Extra Tip: Don’t miss Thursday’s edition of Hindu Science and Technology. It covers many questions both in prelims and in mains exam as well.

What should be focused?

  1. Good analysis of current issues (Editorial page or Op-Ed page).
  2. Supreme Court and High Court verdicts.
  3. Issues of national and international importance.
  4. Parliamentary Debates.
  5. Government policies and orders.
Extra Tip: Make notes on the hot topics (See sample notes on GST, Paris Agreement etc. You may make notes on all recent bills, recent Supreme Court orders etc)



What should not be the focus?

  1. Local news.
  2. Political news.
  3. Masala items like film reviews, wardrobe malfunctions, celebrity interviews etc.
  4. Trivial facts like sports titles, awards, personalities in news etc.

Prepare your scrap book as per the previous years syllabus this will save you a lot of time.

• US Army has issued a new regulation under which servicemen who wear turbans, hijabs or beards can now be enrolled in the military service.

• Mobile payment service Paytm received a formal approval from the Reserve Bank of India to launch its Paytm Payments Bank.
• American company Apple will manufacture iPhones in India in collaboration with Taiwanese company Wistron. The factory will be establish in the Bengaluru city.
2nd January, Current Affairs:
• The Supreme Court ordered today to remove Anurag Thakur as chief of India's cricket board BCCI for not implementing Lodha Committee recommendation. The Supreme Court has also ordered the sacking of BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke.
• Union Government has clarified that the service charge which ranges from 5 to 20 percent cannot be mandatorily applied by restaurants. Government says payment has to be voluntary.
• India successfully test-fired long range intercontinental surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-IV from the Abdul Kalam Wheeler Island off Odisha.
