What is WAT?
Word Association Test is one of the projective method used by the
psychologist to assess the suitability of a candidate for Recommending to get
trained as an Officer in the Indian Defence Forces. It is concerned with the type of personality a candidate possesses.
Which he/ she expresses on the basis of his/ her imagination about a specific
word. This test is, thus, a test of imagination. The Psychologist assesses candidates on the
basis of association of his/ her ideas and thoughts with the word shown. In
this test series, words are shown to the candidate and he is asked to form a
meaningful sentence using these words. Further, WAT helps to discover emotional
feelings, attitudes and problem area of individual being evaluated. In short,
WAT provides a clue to the dynamic content of an individual’s personality
structure.
