A word of advice from a Serving Officer

Do you want to become a part of the elite forces?
If “YES”, then read on,
To get into the Forces it is not easy and to get out of it is yet another story.
This officer was asked by the Interviewing officer at SSB the following question.
“If we do not select you, will you try again?”
His answer was, “SSB is a battle and whosoever survives till the last, wins it”
What does it take to become one among the few who makes his grade?
To know what SSB Selectors are looking for is easy.
Any book on SSB will tell you the so called Officer Like Qualities.
What one should do to develop these qualities needs to be known.
Can a college teacher or anyone who made it at the SSB can he teach you?
NO, they can only tell you that there are a few qualities and one should exhibit these qualities to the selection board. It is easily said than done.
It is like learning to swim by reading a book. Can one excel?
Not until and unless he has the courage to get into the water and learns it practically.

They say show your leadership.
In a fish market type environment during a Group Discussion, is that really possible?
What is the answer?
Everyone wants to show that he is a leader, so they start shouting.
No my dear friend, a person who takes opportunity at the right time to talk and put forth his thoughts that’s relevant to the subject alone makes it.
You are briefed before commencement of every test / task. How far have you grasped the essence that counts?
You may join a coaching centre. But watch out, if it is a one man show then you are taking a RISK. If it has all the three assessment officers to train you then it is good.  In the end it all depends on what you have learned and how you would be exhibiting the acquired knowledge that counts.

So start by learning, practicing and implementing. Every one of us have some Strong points (Good Qualities) and some weak Points. Concentrate on all your skills and let your strong point show you the gate to success.
