Q1. A train moves with the speed of 180 km/hr. Find the speed in m/sec ? - 2 marks Question
(a) 20 m/sec
(b) 30 m/sec
(c) 50 m/sec
(d) 70 m/sec
Solution:
To Convert Km/hr into m/s
Multiply
Km/hr * 5 /18
180 x 5 / 18 = 10 x 5 = 50 m/s answer
Two step Calculation--------------3 marks
Q2. A 150 metres long train moving at the speed of 126 km/hr. What time it will take to cross an electric pole ?
(a) 3.5 seconds
(b) 4.2 seconds
(c) 5 seconds
(d) 6 seconds
Solution:
To find what?
a) To find the speed of the train in m/s
b) To find the Time taken by the train to Travel a distance of 150 m
Note: Here the word used is to cross an electric pole this means just its own length
Formula to be used
a) Multiply the km/hr into 5/ 18 to get the speed in m/s----------------------Answer I
b) Divide 150 m/ Answer one to get the time taken to travel this distance
126 x 5 /18 = 7 x 5 = 35 m/s
150 / 35 =4.28 Seconds Answer
Three Step Calculation: Five Marks Question
Q3. A train of length 250 meter long running at the speed of 10 m/sec. How much time it will take to cross a platform of 650 meter length ?
(a) 60 seconds
(b) 72 seconds
(c) 85 seconds
(d) 90 seconds
Solution:
To find what?
a) To find the Time taken by the train to travel 250 m (first)
b) To find the Time taken by the train to travel 650 m (Second)
c) To find the Total Time taken by the train to travel ( 250 + 650 m)
Note: Here the word used is to cross a Platform this means its own length + the Length of the Flatform.
Formula to be used
First Logic- 10 m in 1 seconds
Therefore 250 min 10 seconds
a) Divide the speed in m/s by Distance traveled ( Distance / speed = Time)( 250/ 10= 25 s--Ans I)
b) Divide the speed in m/s by Distance traveled ( Distance / speed = Time)( 650/ 10= 65 s--Ans I)
b) Add to get the time taken to travel this distance is 900 m in 90 seconds ( ANSWER)
Simple Logic - 2 Marks Question
