Sainik Academy Welcomes you to find out more about Sainik School Admission- 2017

The Sainik Schools give admission to students in class VI or Class IX
In order to get into sainik school your child should be less than
11 years as on 01 July 2017
Vacancy  100 each year
Divided further as 42 for general In BC/ OBC / MBC
25 for Ex service and Service personnel's children
                              15 for SC
                                8 for ST
                              10 for other state

Min cut off marks last year was 68 % overall

now let us find out where your child stands at present
the school follows CBSE pattern, hence the exam is also based on CBSE pattern

Remember this is a competitive exam and only children who fall in merit are considered.
So there is no pass mark system

Now take this sample test to know how many marks your child can get

Mathematics
consists of Three parts
Part A 2x 10 Marks = 20
Part B 3 x 10 Marks = 30
Part C 5 x 10 Marks = 50

Since we see the cutoff is 68% the child should move on to Part C and get maximum correct to ensure a berth in the school.

Sample of Part A
What  is the greatest 5 digit number that can be made from 7, 0, 9, 3 and 6
simple 97630 answer  2 marks

Sample Part B
What will be simple interest earned on Rs.5600, invested for 7.5 years at 8 % rate of interest.
This is a straight application of the Formula
SI = PNR / 100
SI= (5600 x 7.5 x 8 )/ 100= 336000/ 100 = Rs.3360
Therefore Simple Interest earned will be Rs. 3360--- ( 3 Marks)

Sample of Part C ( 5 Marks each)
These are Application cum skill based questions
The candidate is required to understand the problem and then use the formula . If requirerd change the units to suit the requirement.

Sum: What would be the cost of covering the floor  with the tiles at the rate of Rs.50 per tile, if the size of the floor is 40 m and 30m.  . The size of the tile is 50 cm x 30 cm
Here the candidate has to find out
a) The area of the floor to be covered
b) Area of the tile
c) total tiles required
d) Conversion of M into cm is also required

working
Area of the floor 40 x30 = 1200 sq m
area of the tile 0.5 x 0.3 m =1.5 m
No of titles required 1200 / 1.5  Or 12000/ 15
is. 800 tiles are required to cover the entire floor
now cost of 1 tile is Rs. 50
Therefore the cost of 800 tiles is 800 x 50 = Rs.40000 ( Answer)

Hence unless the child understands how to go about it would be difficult to achieve  100 %
