How to pass in RIMC Entrance Examination?
Sainik School Entrance is a tough entrance examination to crack
unless a very systematic approach is done the result would be negative.
after years of training I have noticed the following flaws in the candidates preparation
a) They do not practice the mathematical formulae which is essential to solve the problems
b) Lack of understanding tha problem and what is asked is another area where they lose out marks.
Let us take an example as to how should we go about solving a problem:-
a) A man borrowed an amount of Rs.10,000 for a period of 73 days from a bank and agreed to pay a Simple interest at 15 1/2 % per annum. What would be interest and the total amount that he will repay the bank?
Solution:
Step 1: What are the data given? Principal Rs. 10000
SI 15.5 %
Time 73 days
Step 2: What is asked? a) Simple Int and b) Total Amount
Step 3: Formulae to be used in the above problem.
a) SI = PNR / 100
b) Amount = SI + P
Step 4: Method of working
Since the time is in days we will have to first convert this into years
for this we have to divide days by 365 ( always take this as a non leap year)
so 73 days become 73/ 365 year
in the same way 15 1/2 % become 155 / 10 or 31/2
now use this data in the formula to get the SI.
SI= ( 10000 x 155x 73) / 100 X10 X 365
i.e. 1550X1 / 5 OR RS. 310
Now to find the Amount SI + P
310 + 10000= 10310 Rs.
Step 5: Therefore the man will repay Rs. 10310 Answer
