Day three for RMS - Sainik Maths Revision- Class VI

Fractions:-

Numerator
__________   =         21

Denominator            25

Types of fractions:-

What are the types of fractions?

a) Like fractions
b) Unlike fractions
c) Mixed Fractions
d) Improper Fractions

Add the following fractions:

1 1/2  + 22/ 12     =

Step 1: First make the Mixed fraction into improper fraction
Step 2: Then find the LCM of the Denominators
Step 3. Solve (add both the Improper fractions)

Step 4: working  1 1/2 = 3/ 2 + 22/ 12 
LCM = 12
hence     3/2 + 22 / 12   =    (3 x 6)  + (22 x 1) /  12  =  18 + 22 / 12  = 40/ 12

40 / 12 is an improper fraction
this can be written as 3 and 4/ 12  it can be further reduced as 3 and 1/3
Hence the answer is 3 1/3
