Admission

Sainik school admits boys in Classes VI & IX. Their age should be 10-11 years for class VI and 13-14 for class IX as on 1st July of the year in which admission is sought.
The scheme of entrance examination for admission to class VI & IX envisages a written examination and an interview. The candidates who qualify in the written examination according to the prescribed standards are called for interview keeping in view the number of vacancies available. Admission is further subject to the candidates being found medically fit according to medical standards prescribed for entry to National Defence Academy. However, factors like height and weight which are variable with age are ignored.

Reservation

The seats for admission to Sainik Schools are reserved as under :

Schedule Caste Category 15%
Schedule Tribe Category 7.5%

Balance 77.5 % seats are allocated as under :

1. Home State Candidates - 67 % of balance ( 77.5 % ) seats
 
General Category 75%
Defence/Ex - Defence Category 25%
   
2. Other States Candidates - 33 % of balance ( 77.5 % ) seats
 
General Category 75%
Defence/Ex - Defence Category 25%
Admission Tests in Class VI and IX are given in the subjects shown against each:

For Class VI, the written examination includes -

1. Mathematical Knowledge Test & Language Ability Test 200 Marks Paper - I
2. Intelligence Test 100 Marks Paper - II
The candidate will have option of attempting the question paper either in Hindi or English for admission to this School.

For Class IX, the examination comprising the following subjects -

1. Mathematics & Science 275 Marks Paper - I
2. English & Social Studies 175 Marks Paper - II
Medium for taking test for Class IX candidates is English only.
