Is the Defence Forces a Suitable Career for a Woman?
Women now-a-days are proving much better than their male subordinates in a number of fields.
As for as Defence Forces are concerned, the fact is life is not as easy as it seems.
Life sytle and working enviornment in peace area is perfectly alright
The Officers are treated with respect much better than what we see in civil departments.
As of now the Army is not giving commission for lady officers in the fighting arms. It is only in fighting arms the life is ( during exercise two to three months in a year) slightly hard when compared to other arms and services.
The life in Navy, Coast guard and IAF, is Comparitively better.
The Short service commission is being made more Lucrative . Very soon announcement in this regard is expected.
The problem comes only when the unit/subunit is moved into operational areas. The living condition is tough.
Accommodation is made in a make shift tents or TRH (Temporary Reinforced Hut)
Open toilet system is still practised in Infantry out door exercise. Will women be willing to undergo this Ordeal?
