The ages of Mary and Ane are in the ratio 7 : 5. Ten years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 9 : 7. Find the present ages.
Solution you can get the solution by following the given steps.

Step 1
Data Given – Ratio of Ages of Mary and Ane = 7: 5 ( after  10 years it will be 9 : 7 )
Step 2
What is required to be found? Find the Present ages
Step 3
Formula to be used:  Average = Total / Qty
Step 4
Method: Let the averages age of Mary and Ane be  7x years and 5 x years respectively.
Therefore

49 x + 70 = 45 x + 90 or 49x – 45x = 90-70  4x = 20 or x = 5
If x = 5, then the age of Mary = 7 x 5 = 35 Years and
Age of Ane is                              = 5 x 5 = 25 years Answer
