How to prepare for RIMC Exams?
ACTION PLAN FOR SYSTEMTIC STUDY TO SUCCED IN A COMPETITIVE
EXAMINATION
The first step in
making an action plan is to make a yearly plan.
Yearly plan helps you get a consolidated or big picture.
1. Learning
Phase
2. Consolidation
Phase
3. Rapid
Phase
Learning Phase:- The basic focus during this phase is to
learn and practice the fundamentals.
This is the phase with which the preparation of a student would normally
start.
Consolidation
Phase : In this phase the
objective is to consolidate whatever you have learned in the learning phase.
Rapid Review
Phase: In this phase we carry
out the last minute revision and to prepare ourselves mentally for the
examination.
Make Weekly plan: Break monthly schedule into weeks
accommodating all the subjects to be studies. Make realistic weekly targets.
This will help you in not only completing the syllabus but will also give you a
sense of achievement once you meet your weekly targets. 6 days a week is for
study and one day is for rest and tests.
Goal Setting and Motivation
- Write down your goals
- Set priorities
- Challenge yourself
- Be specific- a specific long term goal is more inspiring for the future.
- Expect failure – Don’t give up just because you are not immediately successful or the path seems too difficult.
- Make a plan to achieve the Goals
- The reason why most of us do not plan is:
- We are afraid of FAILURE
- We do not want to work under pressure and what to work in a relaxed manner.
- Because we are afraid of others ( If I do not make it what will others think about me?)
- “ If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”. Remember behind every success there is a concrete plan.
HOW TO MAKE
A PLAN THAT WORKS?
Planning is
important, but the most important part is to come up with a plan that works.
How to make
a good plan?
1. Study
the trend of previous year question papers and draw marks distribution of each
subject to find out which topics are most important and which are lest.
2. Give
priority to important topics and try to put them in early stages of your
preparation to avoid any possibility of them being leftout.
3. Divide
your entire time into periods of one month each and plan to complete a block of
lessons by the end of each period.
4. Take
a test at the end out every chapter to know how much you really know? If
required re read and re write.
5. Char
out this plan and a calendar clearly and place it above your study table.
6. Do
not overestimate the time you have. You are advised to leave a little gap (Free
Time) in between two periods so that if any module gets delayed you don’t have
to change the whole plan.
7. Set
study Goals for each Day, each Week and Each Month.
8. Each
set of study should be about 45 minutes and no more. Concentrate and prepare notes for later
reference
9. Determine
the time of day that is best for you to study.
10. When
you are not fully alert in the afternoons, sleep for an hour and then study.
11. At
the end of each day reflect on what you did and what you need to do on the next
day.
12. Highlight
what has been left undone.
13. Cover
difficult subjects when you are fresh.
14. Take
a test at the end of the subject to know how much you have learned.
15. Planning
helps in improving your efficiency to study.
