How to excel in Sainik Entrance Exam ?

Why does Student fail in Mathematics Examination?

Form my exprience of teaching students mathematics at class V to VIII level. I found that
The students do not READ and UNDER-STAND the questions carefully.
They do not know what is given and what is to be found out
Second lack of knowledge of the formula
Third they lack the basic conceptual knowledge about how to go about solving the given problem.
I suggest the following steps to be relgiously followed. in order to score 100 %
First write the question down
Step 1: Write all the dacts or given data
Step 2; Write down what is required to be found out?
Step 3: Is there any requirement of converting like kg into grams, m into cm etc. if yes do it now
Step 4: What is the formula required to be used to solve the problem
Step 5: Is there requirement of finding more than one answer if yes, write Answer I and Answer II
For eg if you are required to find out the Amount In simple interest problem ,then you will have to find out the Simple interest first __ Answer - I
Write is as:-
Therefore Cost Price of the Item is Rupees:________
All the working is to be done in the right hand side of the same page and make a column saying Working
In the end it would look like :-

Question: 1. What would be the Amount earned on an investment of Rs.12,000 at 6% for 146 days SI? Solution:-

Step1: What is /are the data given?
  1. Principal = Rs. 12,000
  2. Rate of Simple Interest per annum = 6%
  3. Time of investment i.e no of years = 146 days
Note: Here there is a requirement of coverting the time of days into years
since 365 days are there in a year, we will have to write the time as 146/ 365
If you simplify this we get 2/5 years
Step 2: What is to be found out?
  1. Simple Interest
  2. Amount
  3. Amount = SI + Principal
Step 3: What is the formula to be used?
Simple Interest = ( P * N * R) Divided by 100
Step 4: Working or calculation: Now substitute the values into the given formula
Step 5: ( P*N*R)/ 100 = (12000 x 6 x 2 ) / 100 x 5
ie.:- 120 x 12/ 5 = 24 x 12 = Rs. 288
Step 6: SI = Rs. 288 , hence Amount = SI + P = 288 + 12000 = 12288 Rs.

Step 7: Answer: Therefore the Amount earned will be Rs.12288/-
Note: By solving the problem in the above manner you will be able to get the full marks.
