Direct Services Selection Board Interview without any written test


If you are a graduate without writing any written test one can appear for Services Selection Board for Army / Navy / Coast Guard and become a class one Gazetted officer.

Army: For getting a direct SSB Call for Army You have to be an Engineering Graduate with well over 65% of marks in your degree. This can be even during the third year of your engineering exam.
If you are an NCC Sr. Div Candidate with a min of “B” Grade in NCC “C” Certificate you can apply for NCC Special entry for Short Service Commission in the Army. This has to be done through your NCC Group Headquarters.

Navy: Navy calls for Services Selection board for all its branch be it
a)     Navigation – Flying Branch
b)    Logistics
c)     Executive entry you can apply. Depending on the marks you have scored in your Degree, Navy calls you to face the direct Services Selection Board examination.
Coast Guard: Same as Navy.
Here the biggest advantage is you have Quota system for OBC (age relaxation)
SC/ ST age relaxation, getting the railway reimbursement etc.

You will be given a three tire AC rail fare to attend the interview one two types of commission:-
a)     Permanent Commission
b)    Short Service Commission
For IAF, you will have to face Air force common Admission test and Engineering Knowledge Test for Technical Graduates.

The Services Selection Board testing is similar to all the three services. Only in case of Pilots you will have to undergo a skill test known as Pilot Aptitude battery Test.

Medical examination is common to all services.

For Dental and M.B.B.S graduates, only departmental exam and an interview, they do not face SSB Interview tests.

For all other entry one has to face the Services Selection Board Interview Tests
In Coast guard they call it Preliminary Selection Board (just like screening test of SSB) and Final Selection Board test (like second stage of SSB Interview)
The biggest advantage in Coast Guard is it is a Permanent Commission for every one unlike, army, navy and IAF
10 +2 Tech Entry for Army and Navy also gives a candidate an opportunity to face the SSB without any written test.
As a service entry candidate for special commission, you need to clear only departmental examination.

Max age limitation as follows:- ( Under Graduates Engineering & Post Graduates)
Army- Territorial Army – 42 years – Only male candidates
Army- Engineering Technical Graduates – 27 years (male and Female)
Navy – Engineering Graduates- 27 years (male and female)
Air Force- Engineering Graduates- 28 years (Male and Female)
 Non Technical Entry Graduates:-
CDSE – 23 Years (Army- Navy and IAF)
Officers Training Academy -Chennai - 25 years (Army Only)
AFCAT- 25 Years (Ground Duties) (Age Relaxation is applicable for Service entry)
For Medical Officers holding MDS, MD, MS etc, the age limit is up to 35 years
NDA/ + 2 tech Entry maximum 19. 5 years (Male Only)
Coast Guard
The age is up to 30 years depending on OBC, SC, ST
