REASONS FOR NOT GETTING RECOMMENDED BY SSB/ FSB By Defence Academy Coimbatore
This Article is written by Col CS Jayavel  (GTO)------ Faculty  at Defence Academy Coimbatore

STEPS TO SUCCESS STARTS FROM YOU

Unless you are well prepared to face the SSB /FSB with confidence
You will become nervous prior to actual Interview.
Nervousness binds your tongue and hence  your performance would be well below the required level.

1.  PREPARATION IS MANDATORY
    a) Mental Preparation
    b) Physical Preparation

2. FEAR OF UNKNOWN
   a) Knowing what one would face at the SSB/ FSB is essential.
    b) You may Watch in on Youtube
c) Read it from a book
d) Listen from a friend of yours who had been to the SSB/ FSB
e) Coaching Institutes
Once you come to know what are the tests that you would be facing it becomes easy to prepare. ( Self Defence)

3. Repeaters put you under pressure.
A person who had been to the SSB/ FSB, might give you his/her own view about the SBB/FSB which might put you under disadvantage.
Eg. The GTO Tasks are very tough, In my opinion you should Dominate the group and always be the first one to start in each and every GTO Task.
I have seen many people who take this seriously and start off right in the First GD and hardly listen to others.

4. Stage Fear.
Unless you are able to express yourself in front of others you will not be able to deliver your lecture in front of your own sub group. ( Hence practice,  and talk in front of your friends.)

5. Lacking Initiative.
If you lack initiative, then no one can help you. ( GTO looks for Demonstrated Performance. You may be academically very strong. But if you cannot take initiative and perform with the group, you can book your ticket back to home.)
How to train? This starts at your home, school, college or even amongst your friends circle. Let us say you want to celebrate your siblings birthday. A mere wish will not make it happen.
Start by writing it out,
a) Budget
b) No of invitees
c) Events
d) Menu
e) Entertainment
f) Return Gifts,
g) Inviting your friends,  ( How, Phone calls, invitation cards, social media, etc.,)
h) Next stage coordinate, divide jobs, org and plan
This is just an example, school functions, college events,  trekking, org a friendly match, ete.,
Try it you will gain ample experience and this will make you a winner.

6. Thinking and Dreaming is not an action which is seen by your assessor
Be it Psychological tests, Gp tests, Interview, Prepare stage by stage.( Now-a-days, plenty of materials are available for you to practice.)
a) Practice- Story writing, and narrating ( Required for Screening Test)
b) What to write? How to write? What to avoid? ( Psych book by Col Ramakrishnan www.ssbcoaching.com)
c) Prepare a Personal Information Questionnaire . Down load write and Check, re write and see if it brings out the best in you.
All it requires is your personal data, and your educational achievements, extra and co-curricular activities.
You may down load it from www.ssbcoaching.com
Write down possible questions that would be asked in any interview and answer it in writing.
Add a few Current affairs questions State, country, world, Sports, etc.
Know yourself and your school, college, your likes, dislikes, write it down and check back
Why do you really want to join the forces? Do not mug it up.

                                                    NO LIES PLEASE.

7. For psych tests, buy any guide,, or even down load and practice one story a day 20 word association test, and 20 Situation reaction test, Self description.
JOIN NCC if possible, take part in sports, know about your hobby.

BE YOUR SELF AND PRESENT YOURSELF – LISTEN TO BRIEFING AND FOLLOW IT YOU WILL SUCCEED
