How to Ace an
Interview?
Hello
aspirant,
Congratulations
on your success in the written test
In a few
days’ time you will be asked to appear for a personal interview. This is going
to be challenging as well as a place where you can showcase your skills.
Before you
appear for an interview you have to prepare yourself.
The
preparation is of two types:-
a) Mental of
Psychological Preparation
b) Physical
Preparation.
This being
an interview to find your suitability for gaining admission in a school, the interviewing
officer / panel would not look out for much. Yet they would evaluate your
performance/ suitability based on your presentation skill during personal
interview.
Mental preparation:
This
includes the following:-
a) Knowing
about you.
i) School you are now studying
ii) Subjects you like and you do not like
and why?
iii) Your interest and extracurricular
activities
iv) Your likes and dislikes, sports, hobbies
etc.
b) About the members of your family, name,
profession and other details.
c) Your
knowledge about the particular institute that you would like to join.
d) Why you
wish to join that institute
e) Your aim
and how you intend to achieve it?
f) Knowing
about the place where you are living?
g) A bit of
GK and Current Affairs, Who is who?
h) Your
power of observation before you enter the hall etc.,
PHYSICAL
PREPARATION
a)
Appearance (Hair Cut, clean nails, dressing sense)
b) Your
etiquette (is that wishing the members, talking in an audible manner, listening
to questions and thinking before answering)
c) Your
style of talking and modulation
d) If not
knowing an answer accepting it gracefully.
e) Way you
sit and body language
f) Eye
contact with the person who asked you the question.
g) Answering
to the point
Procedure
normally followed:-
Prior to you
being called for an interview
You may be
asked to write your details on a piece of paper
A model is
given below:

Earning per month. Place or work, designation.

10. Place
where you took the written test.
11. Any health
problem?
12. Is your
brother or sister or any relative presently studying in this institution. If
yes their details.

and year of joining. House / division)
13. Do you
read books, if yes which are the books along with their author read in the last
two months?
14. Anything else you wish to tell us?
Dress: It is
better to wear a light coloured shirt, with tie and a dark coloured pant.
Shoes,
socks, matching colour.
Neat
haircut, have a hand kerchief
Etiquette
Before
entering KNOCK the Door and obtain Permission
Wish the
interviewing officer
Stand and do
not sit till you are asked to take your seat.
Sit properly
Look at the
interviewing officer and smile.
Be cheerful.
Listen to
the question before answering.
Speak
confidently about your skills and abilities
Provide
examples to prove your skills. When you want to showcase your skills it is not enough to just
tell the person that you have a particular skill. You must provide an example
that proves your claim.
Your medals, certificates
will tell them you are really achieve it
Think and
answer
Do not tell
any lies
If you do
not know say, “I am sorry sir/ madam, I do not know.”
After the
interview, when they ask you to leave the room. Get up from the chair gently
place it back. Wish the officer/ panel and with a smile leave the place.
Close the
door after you have come out of the room.
In case of

for the final interview
