HOW TO SCORE 100 % IN
MATHEMATICS?
So, you
want to score Cent percent in your mathematics Tests.
GREAT !
HERE ARE THE STEP YOU SHOULD FOLLOW TO ACHIEVE
A PERFECT SCORE
Our Student, who told us how he
achieved a Perfect score both in class X and XII Public Examination, has
enumerated the steps he had taken.
1. Mathematics is not hard; all
it requires is understanding and PLENTY of Practice.
2. Read- Understand- look at the
examples and solved questions and then get on to practice.
3. Break down the problems into
the following steps.
a) Step – 1. What is given? (The
data, facts, statement)
b) Step – 2. What is asked? (i.e.
what is required to be found out?)
c) Step – 3. Is any conversion of
the units required? (if yes, convert it)
d) Step - 4. What is /are the formula to be used?
e) Step - 5. Working step by step
(If algebra be careful about the signs)
f) Step – 6. Once you get the
answer, check back, to ensure it is correct.
To start with write down the formula/ rules given in the chapter
Daily this has to be done every day for 30 days, there after once a week
would do.
This practice helps, in Recollect, Re-call, Refresh and Remember.
|
While in School- Listen to the instructor-
clear the doubts then and there, do not worry about your peers, if you feel shy
are scared you will never be able to score.
NO DOUBT IS TO BE CARRIED HOME.
Remember – Mathematics can be
read like other subjects, it requires constant and concentrated practice.
Your mind will recall only by
repeated practice.
There may be a number of methods
to solve a problem. If you want to score a perfect 10, then you must know all
the possible ways to solve the problem.
Short cuts can be learned and
practiced in order to reduce the time.
SPEED and ACCURACY is needed to
tackle any Competitive Examination.
At Home: Revise and re do the
problems. Let us say if one chapter has about 30 questions. You must solve all
the 30 questions, without leaving even a single problem
This gives confidence to you. (Re
assurance of your mind yes I CAN)
If you are unable to solve a
particular problem, you can ask your friend, if you have an internet, you may
Google it.
In the class ask your teacher if
you have done it correctly.
Step by step solving the problem
helps you to understand where you might have gone wrong.
ALGEBRA- Take care to check and
re-check the signs
Trigonometry- There are more no
of ways to solve the problem, if not one method the other method would be of
help. Ie. TAN can be written as SIN/ COS. And like wise Sin²Î˜+ Cos² Θ = 1
Or 1- Sin²Î˜ = Cos² Θ or 1- Cos² Θ= Sin²Î˜
Solving word problems
Example: A man bought ¾ kg of
sugar from a shop and ½ kg from another shop. He used 2/3 kg sugar. How much
sugar is left with him?
Now let us solve this problem by
using the Step- by Step method.
Step-1
|
What is Given?
|
a) Qty of Sugar purchased ¾ kg and ½ kg
b) Qty of Sugar Consumed 2/3 kg
|
Step 2
|
What is to be found out?
|
Qty of sugar left (in kg)
If it was asked in Grams then you will have to convert the kg into
grams ie. 1 kg= 1000 grams
|
Step 3
|
What is to be done?
|
Add Qty One + Qty 2
Then subtract 2/3 kg from the total
What is left is the answer to the problem.
|
Step-4
|
Formula
|
Qty 1 + Qty 2 = Qty 3
Qty3 x 2/3 = Total sugar consumed.
|
Step 5
|
Working
|
¾ + ½ = ( LMC 4)
(3+2) / 4 = 5/4 kg
i.e 5/4 – 2/3 = LCM of Denominator 3 and 4 = 12
|
|
|
{(5x3) – (2x4)}/12 = 7/12 Kg
|
Step 6
|
Answer
|
Hence the qty of sugar left would be 7/12 kg
|
|
|
|
|
Check
|
5/4 – 7/12 = ?
(15-8)/ 12 = 7/12 kg. Hence the answer is correct.
|
How to remember the formula?
There is no short cut- one has to
write, Re-write and remember. Practice as many sums as possible in that
particular chapter.
Remember Derivatives of the same
formulae
Is Speed x Time = Distance,
Distance/ Speed = Time or Distance/ Time= Speed.
Practicing Vedic Mathematics
helps in improving speed
For Smaller Classes:
Read- Write and Memorize tables
up to 20 x 20
Square Roots and Cube Roots up to
100
Arithmetical formulas to be
written and memorized
Daily work out a in of 20 different sums.
Take help of internet and
practice speed maths
Do your class work without fail.
Be neat and draw figures wherever
necessary.
Geometry: To do well in this one
must understand the CONCEPT
Practice by drawing and reasoning
and logical approach to theorem
Revision of all the chapters
taught once in a Fortnight would be a big help to recall and refresh your mind.
Once again you must practice by working out various samples.
Go in for Model papers and
previous years Question papers.
This method helps you in two
ways.
a) Speed and knowledge of the
pattern of questions asked in the exam
b) Check with the given syllabus
and complete the chapters before you move in for mock tests.
c) ONLINE TESTS would be of immense help to those who are preparing for Entrance
Examination/ Competitive Exams.
d) Group study, this depends upon
the individual, this will help only to clear doubts. Beware this will waste a
lot of fruitful time and concentration goes for a six.
e) Just 60 days before the exam
you should start revising and one month before the exam start Practicing with
model tests Time based tests would be best.
Stay ahead of others in the class
This is done by preparing for the
chapter yet to be taken.
Go through the chapter that is
about to be taught in the class and note down the doubts if any, This will
