Solution:
1.    A square has a perimeter of 48 m and a triangle has a height of 48 m. If the square and the triangle have the same area. What is the base of the triangle?

No: 1
Step
Method
Step1
What is given?
(The inputs/ facts given)
Perimeter of a Square is 48 m
Height of the Triangle is 48 m
Area of square and Triangle are SAME

Step2
To Find what?
Base of the triangle

Step 3
Formula to be used

These are the formula to be used in solving this problem
Perimeter of a square  = 4 x sides
Area of a Square is       = Side x Side
Area of a Triangle is     = ½ Base x Height
Step 4
Working
First Find the Side of the Square  :
4 x side= 48
Of side = 48/ 4 = 12 m
Area of Square = Side x Side = 12 x 12 = 144 sq m

Area of Triangle is given by ½ base x Height
As per sum it is same as that of area of Square ie. 144 sq m
Ie. 1/2 Base x height = 144
Or Base x 48 = 144 x 2
Or Base = (144 x2) / 48 =   3x 2 = 6 m

Check back
1/2x Base x Height = ( Substitute the values to find if the answer is correct) ½ x 6 x 48 = 3 x 48 = 144 sq m
Step 5
Answer
Hence Base of the Triangle is 6 m
