Numeration Chapter

1. (a). Find the Sum and Difference between the greatest and least 5 digit number that can be formed from 6, 2, 1, 0, 8.

(b) What is the PRODUCT of the least three digit number and ONE LESS than the Least two digit Number?

c) What will be the SUM and PRODUCT of the Successor of 99 and Predecessor of 101?

d) Find the product of all the Prime numbers from 30 to 40 and  from 60 to 70

Average:

2. a) Find the average of the first 5 odd numbers starting from 21.

    b) A boy scored the following marks in 5 subjects. Find his average, Mathematics 90, English 87, History 69, Hindi 79, and Science 86.  

c). There were Five boys in a class whose total weight was 225 kgs. The total weight of the First three boys were 150 kg.  Find the average weight of the last two boys.  

d) The mean of the heights of 6 boys is 152 cm. If the individual heights of five of them are 151 cm, 153 cm, 155 cm, 149 cm and 154 cm, find the height of the sixth boy.

Percentage

3 a) Find the percentage of the following (i) 22 ½ % of 400   (ii) 67 % of 360

b) A man had Rs.12, 500, he spent Rs.5,000 on tour and Rs.225 Food. What Percent of money is left with him?

c) Divide Rs.75,000, in the ratio as follows between A, B and C. A got 20 % of the whole amount B and C dived the rest of the amount in the ratio 4 : 9

d) If the price of petrol increases by 25$25$ and Raj intends to spend only an additional 15$15$ on petrol, by how much $$ will he reduce the quantity of petrol purchased?

Simple Interest:

4 a) Kapil got Rs.50,000 loan from the bank at the rate of 12% per annum for 3 years. Find the Simple Interest and Amount to be paid.

b) A sum fetched a total simple interest of Rs.4016.25 at the rate of 9%per annum. in 5 years. What is the sum?

c) A sum of money at simple interest amounts to Rs.815 in 3 years and to Rs.854 in 4 years. The sum is:

d) In how much time will the simple interest on Rs.3,500 at the rate of 9% p.a be the same as simple interest on Rs.4,000 at 10.5% p.a for 4 years? 

Profit and Loss:

5 a) Ayush bought a bicycle, having marked price of Rs.4600, at a discount of 5 %. If tax is charged at the rate of 10% of the sale price, find the amount Ayush paid to buy the bicycle?

b) By selling a shirt for Rs.900, a man losses 25% of the cost price. How much should he sell it for to make a profit of 10% on the Cost price?

c) If selling price of an article is 4/3 of its cost price. Find its profit percentage

d) On selling 17 balls at Rs. 720, there is a loss equal to the cost price of 5 balls. The cost price of a ball is:

Time and Distance:

6 a) A car is travelling at the average speed of 50km/hr. How much distance would it travel in 1 hour 30 mins?

b) Lobha cycles to his school at an average speed of 12 km /hr. It takes her 20mins to reach the school. If he wants to reach his school in 15 mins, what should be his average speed?

c) Two buses do a journey between two cities 200km apart. One bus A moves at 50km/hr one way and 40km/hr on the return. The other bus B does 45km/hr on both journeys.

(i) Which bus takes lesser time to cover the to and fro distance

(ii) Do they both take equal time?

d) Mike roller skates 13.7 km in 1 hour 43 minutes. What is his average speed in kilometers per hour?

  Age:

7  a) After 12 years I shall be 3 times as old as I was 4 years ago. Find my present age

b)  The present age of Jayal’s father is 3 times that of jayal. After 5 years sum of their ages would be 70 years. Find their present ages

c)  Two years ago a man was 6 times as old as his son. After 18 years he will be twice as old as his son. What will be the present age of father and son?

d) John’s father is 5 times older than John and John is twice as old as his sister Alice. In two years time, the sum of their ages will be 58. How old is John now

Mensuration:

For Sainik:

a) Find the diagonal of a Square whose one side is 12 cm.

b) What is the area and Perimeter of a Rectangle whose Length is 8.5 m and breadth is 6.25 m?

c) Find the total amount to be spent on painting a Circle whose diameter is 28 m, if cost of painting is Rs. 14 per sq m.

d) Find the area of the path and area less the path of a garden whose one side is 25m and the width of the path is 5.5 m

8 a) The perimeter of a rectangle is 52cm. If its width is 2cm more than one-third of its length, find the dimensions of the rectangle.

b) A circular ground has a radius of 56m. A 7m wide road runs on the outside around it. Find the area of the road

c) Four horses are tethered at four corners of a square plot of side 63 metres so that they just cannot reach one another. The area left ungrazed is:

d) What is the area of the cylinder with a radius of 6 cm and a height of 7 cm?

9 a) Construct a circle with radius 7 cm and find it’s area

c) With the help of ruler and compass, construct a quadrilateral ABCD in which AB=5cm, BC=5.5cm, AD= 4 cm, <A= 60 degree, and <B= 90 degree also measure <ADC

d) Write the properties of Congruent Triangle.

HCF and LCM:

10 a) Six bells commence tolling together and toll at intervals of 2, 4, 6, 8 10 and 12 seconds respectively. In 30 minutes, how many times do they toll together?

 b) Find the greatest number that will divide 43, 91 and 183 so as to leave the same remainder in each case

c) The greatest number of four digits which is divisible by 15, 25, 40 and 75 is:

d) Find two numbers between 100 and 150 that have an HCF of 24.?
