Now let us
see how it can be done.
Let us take
an example of question number 5.
First write
the question. Correctly, ( This is to be done during practice session)
5. A Man bought a car for Rs.1, 25,000, got is repaired for Rs.20, 000. If
he wants to make a gain of 12.5 % gain on its sales. What should its selling
price be?
Solution:
Step 1.
What is given (write all the data given in the problem)
a) Purchase price of the car
is Rs.1, 25, 000
b) Cost of Repair of the car
is Rs. 20, 000
(Now
Deduction. Therefore the CP is Rs. 1,
45, 000)
Must make a
profit of 12. 5 % on the Sale
Step 2.
What is to be found out?
To find the Selling price of the car.
Step 3.
What is required?
First find the actual CP (Purchase
price + Repair and other expenses)
Formula to be used: GAIN / 100 * CP
Total Gain
= GAIN / 100 * CP
12.5/ 100 *
145000
12.5/100 *
145000
Ie. 12.5 x
1450=Rs.18, 125 ( Total Gain on Sale)
Now add
this to CP to get the final selling price
Ie. 18125 +
1,45,000 = Rs. 1,63, 125 Answer
(In this
formula you will get the overall gain. On obtaining the gain you will have to
add this gain to the CP to arrive at the Selling Price)
Or another
formula is
Selling
Price is = (100 +Gain % / 100) * CP
(By using
this formula you will get the SP)
Step 4.
Working:
(100 +
12.5/ 100) * 145000
112.5 / 100
or 1125/ 1000 * 145000
Or 1125 *
145 =Rs. 1,63,125
Answer:
Therefore the selling price of the car should be Rs. 1,63,125
