This is done at our academy by asking the child to take on a standard intelligence Test.
The score must be above 110.

Now test the child's Numerical ability

This is done by asking the child to solve simple

Subtraction
Multiplication

Division
Questions

First set should have 40 questions speed should be one q in 30 seconds

Second Set should consist of Word Problem 2 mins per question.

These can be done by giving
Basic
Concept Based
Application Based
Skill Based
Higher Order of thinking Questions

Practice if Tables and formulae to be done every day.

Moving on to English:
Reading ability can be enhanced by asking the child to read simple story books.
Followed by questions based on the story.

Writing is to be simultaneously practised.

General Awareness:
Over the years we have seen that the questions are becoming tougher  hence a regular reading of news paper is a must.
