The tuition fee in Sainik School is 56,418/­ and Dietary Expense is 15,486/­ for the year 2016-­17

 which will be increased every year as per the instruction of Board of Governors, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. 

The tuition fee and Dietary can be paid by the parents in Half Yearly and Yearly mode only. 

In addition to the above, the following fees are also to be paid by the parents at the time of admission:

 a) Clothing fees … 1,500/­ in the first year and 750/­ in subsequent years.

 b) Caution Money … 3,000/­ for General category and 1,500/­ for SC/ST category students. 

 c) Pocket Money … 15,000/­ includes 12,000/­ towards incidental charges p.a. 

The individual requirement of the boys for all the items as well as additional facilities will be provided from the School on payment. These additional charges will be required to be paid by the parents at the time of admission. 


(b) The Ministry of Defence Awards Scholarship to Serving personnel and Ex­servicemen based on their rank as under :­ 

(a) The Government of Tamil Nadu is providing meritcum­means Scholarship to the Tamil Nadu domiciled boys based on parent’s income. The Scholarship scheme of TN Government is as under :­ 


(c) The Government of Puducherry awards Scholarship of 10,000/­ per annum to Puducherry domiciled boys irrespective of parents income. 


(d) Other State Government Scholarships will be awarded as per the existing orders of the respective State Govts. 


DATE OF BIRTH FOR ADMISSION FOR 2016-17 

Only boys aged between 10 and 11 years as on 01 July 2016 (i.e., whose date of birth is 02.07.2005 to 01.07.2006) for VI standard 

and 

boys aged between 13 and 14 years as on 01 July 2016 (i.e., whose date of birth is 02.07.2002 to 01.07.2003

) and studying in VIII std in a recognized School are eligible for admission for IX Standard.

 1. Identification Certificate as attached with the Application Form. 

2. Hall Ticket 

3. Bonafide Certificate with Date of Birth & Class from the Headmaster of the School. 

4. Date of Birth certificate’s Xerox copy. 

5. Photostat copy of Discharge Certificate for Ex­servicemen / Service Certificate for Defence Serving Personnel. (Defence and Ex­servicemen only).

 6. Attested copy of Community Certificate for SC/ST candidates. 

7. 3 self addressed envelopes size 23 x 10 cm. 

8. Recent Passport size photographs of size 4 cm x 5 cm of the student – 3 Nos. 

SCHOLARSHIPS : ADMISSION PROCEDURE

 The written examination for Class IX will be conducted as follows :

The minimum qualifying marks for General Category candidates as well as children of Defence Service Personnel and Ex­servicemen will be

 25% in each subject

with 40% in aggregate.

In the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, minimum qualifying standards are not required and they will be admitted on the basis of inter­se merit evidenced at the Entrance Examination/ interview within these categories. 

In case a SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit on his own, he would be admitted against General Seat and will not be adjusted against the reserved share of SC/ST seats. 

In addition to 300 marks prescribed for Written Examination for Class VI

 and 450 marks for Class IX,

 50 marks for both VI and IX classes would be set apart for interview. 

The merit list for admission to the Sainik School would be compiled on the basis of total marks. 

In case there is a tie with regard to overall marks, the mark for Mathematics would be considered. 

In case there is a tie here also the marks for English for Class IX and Intelligence Test for Class VI will be considered and thereafter the marks for General Science for Class IX and Language for Class VI. 

In case there is a tie there also, the boy younger in age will be selected. 

It will not be necessary for a boy to qualify separately in the interview and marks obtained in the written test and interview together will determine his position in the final merit list. 

INTERVIEW Interview would be conducted for the students who clear the written examination.

 Interview carries 50 marks.

 The successful candidates will be called for Interview and Medical Examination at the chosen centres. 

The mark list of the candidates appearing in the exam can be supplied only to the concerned parent/ legal guardian of the candidate at the payment of 100/ ­ through Demand Draft only. 

It is also informed that copy of the answer sheet will not be provided.

VACANCIES : For Class VI: 80 Nos and for Class IX 15 Nos. (Approximately) 


RESERVATION Reservation of Seats for Class VI and Class IX admission will be as below : 

(a) 67% of the seats in each Sainik School will be reserved for boys from the State in which the Sainik School is located. The short­fall, if any and the remaining seats will be thrown open to boys from other States and Union Territories.

 (b) 15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7 ½ % seats for Scheduled Tribes. 

(c) 25% seats are reserved for children of service personnel including Ex­servicemen.

 ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 

The Medium of examination for Class VI will be in English or any other recognized official Language. 

The Question papers for Class VI will be set in English and all the recognized Official languages. 

BUT THE QUESTION PAPER FOR CLASS IX WILL BE SET IN ENGLISH ONLY. 


In case the Entrance Examination cannot be conducted on account of administrative problem, a separate order will be issued to conduct an another Entrance Examination on a date fixed by the Honorary Secretary, Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. 

WRITTEN EXAMINATION :

The Examination Centres in Tamil Nadu are tentatively as under, subject to the availability of adequate number of candidates.

for IX std.

for VI std. If the number of applicants for a particular centre is very low, these applicants will be attached to the nearest centre, under intimation to the parents concerned.

 Allotment of centres will be at the discretion of the School, without assigning any reason. 

DOCUMENTS

 The following documents are to be submitted at the time of applying for admission:­

 (a) Application form, Hall Ticket and Identification form attached with the prospectus as Appendix ‘A’ duly completed with passport size photos affixed on the places provided. 

(b) Identification certificate duly completed and photo attested by the Headmaster of the school where the boy is studying. In the case of private studies, photo may be attested by a Gazetted Officer (Only for Class VI admissions). 

(c) DATE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR VI STD BOYS AT THE TIME OF SUBMITTING APPLICATION : 

A certificate from the Head master of the School indicating the name of the boy, name of the father, his date of birth, class in which he is studying and whether the school is recognized. 

The Photostat copy of Date of Birth certificate is also to be submitted. 

DATE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR IX STD BOYS AT THE TIME OF SUBMITTING APPLICATION : 

Boys seeking admission to IX std, the boys should be studying in Class VIII in a recognized school. 

They should produce a certificate regarding the Date of Birth, class from the Headmaster of the School where they are studying. 

The school should be recognized by CBSE / State Educational Board. 

(d) COMMUNITY CERTIFICATE (FOR VI & IX STD BOYS). In case of SC/ST candidates ­ A Photo copy of the certificate in the Prescribed form, from the Competent Authorities as under:­ For SC/ST other than Konda Reddy ­ Taluk Tahsildar For Konda Reddy ­ R.D.Os. 

PLEASE NOTE:

 (i) A certificate from the Commanding Officer of the Unit (where the father of the boy is serving) giving the service details for Defence serving person.

 An attested copy of the ‘Discharge Certificate’ in case of Ex­servicemen.

 (ii) Application form is not transferable. It can be used only by the candidate to whom it has been issued.

 (iii) Full permanent address must be shown clearly with contact Phone Number. (iv) Income to be furnished at para 10 of the application form will comprise:­ 

a) Income from employment.

 b) Income from property. 

c) Income from business or vocation. 

d) Income from other sources. A breakup of the income should be shown on the application form. 

v) There will not be any relaxation in the age limit under any circumstance. 

(vi) The details given in the filled up application form should be absolutely correct in all respects. Any discrepancy will render the application liable to be rejected. 

The details furnished in the application and the details to be furnished at the time of admission should tally. Incomplete application received without supporting documents as mentioned will summarily be rejected at the initial stage itself. Applications received after the last date will also be rejected without looking into the merit of the case. 

NO REFUND OF REGISTRATION FEE WILL BE MADE IN SUCH CASES.

 (vii) THE CANDIDATE SHOULD NOT HAVE EARLIER APPEARED FOR SAINIK SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR THE SAME CLASS FROM ANY CENTRE IN INDIA. 

(viii) Photographs are to be firmly affixed on Admission Form, Identification Certificate and Hall Ticket. LOOSE, PINNED or STITCHED photographs on application form or identification certificate will not be accepted. (ix) Photograph affixed on application should be signed by the parent/ guardian and the candidate only, partly on the application form and partly on the photograph. (x) Please tick out the category applicable in appropriate boxes. (xi) State one language only in which the boy wishes to take the Entrance Test. Request for change of language will not be accepted. (xii) Please write Station and Date along with your signature at the end of the application form. (xiii) The photograph affixed on Identification Certificate is to be attested by a Gazetted Officer/ Headmaster of the school last attended. (xiv) Please complete the Identification Certificate except the column provided for Roll Number and ensure that the Parent/ Guardian and the candidates have signed the Identification Certificate at the spaces provided. The Board of Governors, Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi, has suggested that the school may collect from the scholarship holders the fees representing the scholarship portion at the beginning of the year itself, in case, there is likely to be some delay in realization of scholarship amount from the Government. The Board of Governors has also suggested that refund to these payments may be made as soon as the scholarship amount is released by the Government. The suggestion of the Board of Governors, Sainik Schools Society will be binding on all the scholarship holders. Hence, the same will be projected as per requirement. The parents are to furnish the following documents at the time of admission for the award of Tamil Nadu scholarship, if eligible and subject to approval by the Government. a) Tamil Nadu Nativity /Domicile certificate as in the proforma issued by the school. b) Application for scholarship. c) Income Certificate Part I to Part IV (including unemployment certificate of the father/ mother whichever is applicable. d) Bond e) Agreement f) Declaration that the boy is not in receipt of any scholarship or concession from any other source. THE DOCUMENTS ARE TO BE EXECUTED ONLY BY THE FATHER OF THE BOY. In case father is not alive, mother of the boy should produce a certificate from the Revenue authority not below the rank of the Tahsildar which should indicate the details of the death of her husband, viz., name of the husband, position held by him prior to his death, date of demise, reason for death, name of the wife, name of the boy for whom admission to Sainik School is sought and the fact that the mother is the legal guardian of the boy. The mother of the boy will then be recognized as the legal guardian of the boy and documents can be executed by the mother. In case, father and mother are separated and if the boy is under the legal guardianship of the mother, documents legalizing the separation of husband and wife and conferring the legal status of guardianship to the mother of the boy should be produced. In such an event the mother will be treated as the legal guardian. The income as on 01 July of the admission year will be the income reckoned for determining the eligibility of Scholarship. The quantum of scholarship that will be sanctioned for the first year will normally be continuing throughout the period of study of the boy in the school, subject to Rules and Regulations of the school. Changes in income in upward direction subsequent to the date of admission will be ignored in case of the merit­cum­means scholarship holders, if approved, by the Government of Tamil Nadu. If revision of Income Slabs based on Principal’s recommendation to the Government is approved for the benefit of the parents in between the course, the scholarships will be reviewed for all the boys and the benefits will be extended to them as a very special case. The continuance of merit­cum­means scholarship is subject to the satisfactory conduct and progress of the student in the school. These scholarships are liable to be cancelled in case of failure to secure annual promotion or for any other reason, which in the opinion of the Principal may render the retention of the student in the school undesirable.
